Voice in English: Active or Passive?

How can you tell the difference?

Verbs can be used in active or passive voices. How do you identify them?

In active voice, the subject is also the "agent" of the verb.

The plumber repaired the sink.

We can express the same idea in passive voice:

The sink was repaired.

The sink was repaired by the plumber.

Features of Passive Voice:

1.) The subject is not the agent of the verb but is affected by the verb.

2.) The passive verb is always in participle form.
